Indoor Test Range (ITR)
The basis of the Indoor Test Range is the estimation of a projectiles aerodynamic coefficients using position and time measurements for a variety of initial conditions (linear and angular velocity). For measurements, a series of vertical and angular iBeams are arranged over a given length. As a projectile is launched through the array of iBeams, at each passage an electronic signal is sent to a computer allowing the time of passage to be recorded with a resolution of 10-6 seconds. The times for each of the iBeams are recorded and will be used with the know position information to calculate the coordinates of the projectile along the flight.
